Zetacon’s CogniSim Motor Control Technology

Zetacon’s advanced motor control technology is based upon a revolutionary control architecture and methodology. This control technology, trademarked as CogniSim, is a true breakthrough in providing excellent sensorless control for different classes of motors, independent of the power circuit used. CogniSim is exceptionally flexible and adaptable, an attribute that delivers performance and value in many important ways.

Capabilities and Benefits:

  •  Advanced Sensorless Control delivers full direct torque control down to zero speed, and very fast rotating re-startsbuilt on fundamental machine theory and incorporating a unique predictive engine

  • Fundamentally the same control system works for:

    •  induction motors

    •  permanent magnet motors

    • synchronous reluctance motors

Single architecture and master algorithm, adjusted for embedded mathematical motor models

  • Capable of controlling a number of different motor classes with the same control engine... capability depends upon performance criteria chosen, available processing speed and power circuit capability. The performance capability will expand further as processor speeds increase since CogniSim is fully adaptable

  • Operates at meaningfully lower switching frequencies than most traditional control systems – lower losses; lower EMI…no set modulation approach; only executes a switch change if doing so leads to better performance

  • Minimizes design obsolescence, accelerates time-to-market for new or upgraded motor control products… readily accepts and adapts to changes/evolutions in the electronic devices/components used in the control system or power circuit

  • Single controller can be structured so as to deliver a high performance motor drive while effectively managing typical related power quality issues
